Solarize It!

The University of the Virgin Islands Caribbean Green Technology Center hosted a mini-solar training session this summer on Sunday June 27th on the OEK campus (UVI’s St. Thomas campus) from 9:30am - 4:30pm. The session was part of the Solarize St. Thomas coalition workforce development program. This program was free and open to the UVI community.

Participants learned a variety of topics including: the difference between traditional energy sources and renewable energy, electricity and energy units, sizing a solar PV system and its components, as well as basic worksite safety. The course was a mixture of theory, lectures and hands-on training. We will be using feedback from this pilot program to expand the program to the larger community as well as on St. Croix.
