Drought is a prolonged lack of rain below normal precipitation levels. Although drought comes slowly it can still take us by surprise. The USVI has recently been included in the U.S. Drought Monitor thanks to efforts to install weather stations across the territory as well as digitalize historical records. This means that we are now better able to identify the initial effects of drought giving us sufficient warning time before things become dire.
This webinar will talk about drought, its impacts, and what is being done in our community to overcome the negative impacts of this natural hazard.
