In honor and celebration of Earth Day 2021, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), the Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources (VIDPNR), the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA), and the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) are co-hosting a series of webinars and community conversations about solid waste and the Territory’s plans and progress towards lifecycle assessment (LCA), sustainable materials management (SMM) and zero waste (ZW).

The first webinar in the series will give an overview of how the Solid Waste system works in the USVI. We will be highlighting some of the unique challenges faced by islands in the Caribbean, as well as sharing exciting current and upcoming initiatives in Sustainable Materials Management. This webinar will feature presentations from VI Waste Management Association, Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and UVI’s Caribbean Green Technology Center.
